Top 7 Ways To Avoid Knee Injuries In Zumba / Dance / Fitness Classes
injuries January 26th. 2025, 10:47pmHere’s my Top 7 Ways To Avoid Knee Injuries In a Zumba / Dance / Fitness class!
disclaimer: always seek medical advice in the case of injuries, never push through any pain.
1. Track your knees over your ankles (don’t knock them in or out)
2. If you can’t help the alignment of your knee, GO AND SEEK ADVICE (physio / osteo / doctor) and get it seen to BEFORE it becomes painful and you get injured. prevention over cure!
3. Make sure your weight is in your heels in squats etc
4. When your turning, turn on the ball of the foot or the heel (not the whole foot, so there is less traction and you don’t twist your knee. Knees aren’t supposed to twist)
5. Change up your trainers if they are too grippy so that you are able to glide more when you turn and don’t torque the knee
6. if your knees are uncomfortable / painful in deep bends, adapt the movement and do a “microbend” instead.
7. Give your knees a complete rest and forget about the leg choreography and just do the arm movements!
